Meg Whitman has led HP as CEO since September of 2011. In October of last year, she and her fellow board members announced their intent to split the PC and printers business from its enterprise products and services business. The former would be known as HP Inc., and the latter would be known as Hewlett Packard Enterprise. This would amount to the largest technology firm break-up of all time, creating two companies with revenues in excess of $55 billion.

In the early part of last week it was like whack-a-mole. Every time it looked as though stocks might see the light of day and pop higher they were pounded lower yet again as investors worried about the ever-shrinking Chinese economy… The situation got so desperate Tuesday that Apple chief executive Tim Cook even went so far as to email TV stock market personality Jim Cramer to tell him investors have it all wrong: Apple's business in Chinese is strong. Apparently, the chief's glitchy watch did not tweet him that a selective disclosure like that may not have been legal. Of course, by the end of the week Chinese markets had reversed amid rumors of more intervention and US indexes actually finished the week with modest gains following better than expected second-quarter GDP… On a somewhat related note, NASA says the world is not going to end in September as had been previously reported on the Internet. Just when it seemed safe to believe the stuff posted on Facebook… Google’s director of engineering expects within the next 10 years engineers will be able to 3D print human organs using stem cells, program human biology away from diseases like cancer and even retard the aging process. If that's the case, Google will next need to fix the problem of human over-population. Hope they have an algorithm for that too…. Self driving cars are coming sooner and they are likely to be a bigger business opportunity than most anyone is predicting – if you exclude all of the car companies, Apple, Google, Tesla, Uber and the insurance industry.… Samsung may be finally getting design right with its new Gear smartwatch. UCLA broke ground Thursday on two facilities that members of the athletic department vow will change the course of three prominent school sport programs: football and men’s and women’s Basketball. Fundraising campaigns for the The Mo Ostin Basketball Center and the Wasserman Football Center began less than two years ago as part of the campus-wide UCLA Centennial Campaign. Casey Wasserman was on hand Thursday to wield the ceremonial shovel, making his mark on the land designated for the $65 million facility across from Spaulding Field. Wasserman graduated from UCLA in 1996 and went on to become a force in professional sports, building the Wasserman Media Group. People yesterday were already talking about whether extended screens were necessary to protect fans from foul balls or flying bats — after Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reported that the Phillies were considering it . Then, in the second inning, with Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred at the stadium, the Phils’ Freddy Galvis fouled off a ball that hit a woman sitting in the Diamond Club in the forehead. She was able to walk to the concourse and the team said she did not need to go to a hospital. The issue of fan safety was in the headlines earlier this season when a woman was seriously injured when she was struck by a broken bat at Fenway Park . Manfred, on a tour of big-league cities, was in Philadelphia last night. He downplayed the Fox report, but he says fan safety is something he’s seriously concerned about. “I have talked to the Phillies folks. They have no plans to move ahead immediately on this topic. Having said that, this is a topic that is of serious concern. Not only to me, but more importantly to all 30 owners,” Manfred said. Manfred says his office plans to make recommendation to ownership in November, in time to decide whether extended netting is necessary for next year. ...

Well, this is awkward. Apple is on the verge of releasing iOS9, a new version of its mobile operating system which brings with it new security rules, and Google has released instructions to app developers that show them how to defeat those rules in order for their apps to continue running ads. It’s not as sinister as it sounds, but it certainly does raise a few questions about Google’s commitment to privacy. The problem? iOS 9 will come with a new feature called App Transport Security (ATS) that’s meant to protect iPhone users’ data more effectively by forcing the use of a new, advanced security protocol onto app developers. Developers are expected to integrate ATS into their code, but not all of them are in a position to do so, resulting in ATS preventing their ads from running, which puts a dent in their ad revenues. Naturally, many developers turned to Google to find a solution, which was a few lines of code that circumvented ATS entirely, posted to the Google Ads Developer blog . Just as naturally, some saw this as Google’s attempt to thwart mobile security in the pursuit of ad revenue. Apple on Thursday announced that it has teamed up with payment service PayAnywhere on a new mobile NFC card reader. It will attach to iOS devices, and support both traditional credit cards and those stored within Apple Pay. The PayAnywhere card reader is a mobile payment reader that accepts a variety of cards and payment methods including the old magnetic stripe ones and the new contactless NFC based ones. As a promotional offer, PayAnywhere will be offering all Apple Pay customers free processing for the first $5,000 worth of transactions that they will be doing. The Xbox One at the moment is Microsoft’s current console, although based on what we’ve seen in the past, we wouldn’t be surprised if in the future, Microsoft will make some design changes, maybe introduce a slimmer version of the console, and so on. However there has been a rumor suggesting that Microsoft could go further than that. The rumor claims that Microsoft is working on an Xbox One Mini which is said to be a third the size of the original Xbox One. Now if you like that idea or if you hate that idea, either way it turns out that it is not true. This has been confirmed by Microsoft’s Xbox boss Phil Spencer who replied to a question on Twitter about the alleged console. When asked about whether the Xbox One Mini rumors are true, Spencer replied with a curt “Not real” answer, thus putting an end to the debate once and for all. We suppose seeing a much smaller Xbox One console would be pretty cool, but at the same time there are gamers who might also not necessarily be a fan of a tiny console either. As always, there are bug fixes and improvements in this build over 10525, but also some new features as well. Here’s What is new: Improved Context Menus There was lot talked about the inconsistency of menus within Windows 10, so Microsoft made some changes to improve these and give them a modern look at and feel. There is still work in proress but you’ll see some good changes with this build. Sharing Windows Feedback The Windows Feedback app will now allow you to easily share your feedback with others. Known Issues Windows Hello face sign-on will not work on this build with some devices; the device can still be unlocked with other methods like pin, password, or fingerprint. The guest was Grammy Award winner Stevie Wonder. The entertainer is blind, yet even he could tell there was something very unique about Dawkins’ game. “A guy who never saw me,” a beaming Dawkins said in a 2011 televised interview, “gave me the name ‘Chocolate Thunder.'” The name stuck, and the rim-wrecking, glass-shattering dunks remain unforgettable — as will the giant of a man who changed the game with them. Dawkins died Thursday at a hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania, according to the Lehigh County coroner’s office. I erased my old Elementary OS and replaced it with Ubuntu 14.04. I also have a Windows 7 install on a different drive, which was working fine under Elementary OS (which is based on Ubuntu 12.04) . However, the drive didn't get detected upon install and it is still not being detected. I tried other similar responses but couldn't find a solution. Often the women leaders that I coach have a hard time tooting their own horn. They feel the results should speak for themselves. Except, that they don't. In the competitive corporate culture where bonuses, promotions, stock options, and sometimes our jobs are at stake, women leaders are coached to boldly share their results. Yet, for many women and those they work with, there are double standards. Women tooting their horn can appear boastful and self-promoting. So what is the solution? Enter former US President Jimmy Carter. In my opinion he is one who toots his horn with great humility. I am part of the Carter Center Board of Counselors. We meet once a quarter and President Carter shares along with others at the Carter Center all the great progress in "Waging Peace, Fighting Disease". During a recent meeting after two of the young Carter Center interns had made great presentations, President Carter got up and said with a smile “One of the times I feel the most inferior is when I have to present after the interns”. It got a great laugh from the audience. The statement was full of humor, humility and humanity, qualities that President Carter embodies.

How to log all inbound connections on Windows server

I need to log a summary of all inbound TCP connections on a Windows 2008R2 server, but only including the Source IP, Source Port, Destination IP and Destination Port. I do not want to log the payload and I do not want to include outbound connections or connections originating from the host itself. I am simply trying to get a high level summary of all inbound connections over a period of a few days to be able to tell at a glance what is connecting to this server and from where. It would be nice to see a summary with only one line for each unique connection (=SourceIP:Port -> DestIP:Port combination), but as long as the information can be logged/exported in CSV format, I an always do that in Excel. The first tool I looked at was Wireshark, but I do not see how not to include the payload. I looked at Process Monitor, but I do not see how to filter out outbound connections and the output does not fit my needs very well. The closest fit I have found is TcpLogView (NirSoft), but it cannot filter out outbound connections or connections that are originating from the local server. Is there a tool out there that can do what I am looking for? Thanks. ...

Bartlett Giamatti The Orioles came into this series riding a four-game sweep of the Oakland A's, having won several of those games in the late innings. However today they got a taste of their own medicine, getting swept by the Twins , who pulled off yet another come-from-behind victory to win 4-3 and sweep the Orioles. The real culprit here, besides the offense stranding a lot of runners of course, was the defense. In particular, a failure by Zach Britton to cover first base led to the Twins tying the game in the top of the 9th. And errors by Manny Machado and Jimmy Paredes , who were admittedly playing out of position, led to additional baserunners and runs that ultimately doomed the Orioles. Fans aren't using to such mental or physical lapses by the Orioles' normally-ironclad defense, particularly not with a manager like Buck Showalter who stresses the fundamentals of the game and staying mentally alert at all times. There were at least a few bright spots in this game. For one, Kevin Gausman recorded an excellent start in which he struck out eight batters and walked zero in seven innings. That hasn't happend to an Orioles starter since ... well, since Goose did it himself on August 1st against Detroit. Given recent layoffs, mill closings and drops in tax revenue, it’s some of the only good news the paper industry has had lately in Maine. With the preliminary ruling issued July 27 in place, the U.S. Department of Commerce has started charging duties on paper from Nova Scotia’s Port Hawkesbury Paper, and mill officials in Madison hope the ruling will be upheld when a final decision is made in November. But the duties are only part of the puzzle in keeping mills like the one in Madison running. Thursday’s announcement that 300 workers will lose their jobs at Verso Corp.’s Androscoggin Mill in Jay was a harsh reminder of how precarious the industry is. At least one industry expert says that the new duties still won’t be enough to counter the decline in demand for paper, and Russ Drechsel, president of UPM Madison, said that until the region’s high energy costs are tackled, the mill will continue to suffer economically. The U.S. dollar is also getting stronger, a factor that was cited by Verso when it announced the impending layoffs scheduled to go into effect later this year.
